How Hari Went From “I was juggling between office and family with no time for German classes” to Passing His B1 TELC Exam With a 100% Score in Speaking

Hari is an Expat living in Munich (Germany).

He is a Senior SAP Basis Consultant at Infineon Technologies AG.

He started my program “From Zero to C1 in 25 Minutes a Day” at A2.

My Program offered him a structured learning system that he could easily integrate into his busy life.

Step-by-step he has been improving his German by developing a better understanding of grammar and sentence structure and growing his confidence in expressing himself when speaking.

A few months ago he gave it a try and took the official A2/B1 (Deutsch-Test-Für-Zuwanderer) TELC exam.

He was able to pass it with a B1 grade and an incredible 100% score in Speaking:

  • Reading: 40/45 (89%)
  • Listening: 40/45 (89%)
  • Writing: 16/20 (80%)
  • Speaking: 100/100 (100%)

Here’s an interview I did with him so you can learn from his journey going through my program.

Let’s jump right into it.

Hari,

What did you try before starting with my program “From Zero to C1”?

I was learning by myself through some youtube channels, Apps etc.

What was your biggest challenge you faced with learning German?

Time constraint: I am normally quite busy with my work schedule and going for German classes was beyond my visibility

What kind of program were you looking for?

Wanted to self-learn, but at the same time I wanted an effective program where it can improve my efficiency. Wanted the program to be flexible based on my availability.

What was your goal when you started?

My target was to complete the program fully and understand the model which was available.  Secondly, to prepare for my B1 exam and to speak in German with my colleagues and friends.

What struck you the most the first time you came across my program?

Learning Technique: Hearing German for 30 minutes or whenever I get some time really helped me to improve my vocabulary and gave me confidence. Perfect examples and teaching concepts with rules being explained clearly.

What was the big difference between my program and the way you learned German before?

The structure of the program and new learning techniques helped me. When I was self-learning, I was missing this. I can revisit and hear you explaining even 10 times. I don’t think I would ask my instructor that many times if I were in a classroom :)

What are some of the results you’ve achieved so far going through my program?

Confidence in speaking and I could clear my B1 exam which was my target. I am feeling confident and I can speak to my colleagues without any mental block.

How did you prepare for your B1 exam?

I fully went through the program and also completed the recommended exercises. Also, I used some model B1 exam dumps available online.

How long did it take to prepare for your B1 exam

I had fixed my exam date a month earlier and then started preparing in full swing

What was the most difficult part of the exam?

Writing: Writing was a little difficult as I didn’t have enough practice.

Which specific resources helped you the most along the way?

The resources of your program and the recommended exercises for students who want to take an official exam.

How did you stay focused and motivated through the program?

It was really challenging for me to be focused and motivated as I was juggling between office and family. I believed that setting a target would only push me to achieve my goal and finally it did help.

How did you manage to combine a full-time job and learning German on the side?

As I said, going to regular classes is impossible with my workload and office timings. I used to listen to the podcast and the lessons during my dishwasher time and before going to bed.

What did a typical daily learning routine look like?

My routine was a minimum of 30 minutes on a daily basis during weekdays and during weekends I learned whenever I got some time.

How much time did you spend daily on average for your learning?

30 minutes minimum and maximum up to 2 to 3 hours

What did you emphasize the most when learning?

Speaking and completing the course so that I get the whole topics covered

What was your biggest obstacle and how did you overcome it?

Time was the biggest obstacle, but with this flexible program I didn’t worry about the timing anymore and I could achieve my target date for the completion of the program at ease.

What was the most important thing that helped you become more fluent in speaking?

Continuous practice and listening to podcasts and lessons

What helped you the most to overcome the fear of speaking to others?

Confidence:  I was lacking confidence earlier in this program and during the program I got more confident and realized that I can do it.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone who wants to learn German but finds it hard to find the time due to his/her busy life?

Set a target and run to achieve it and with help of this program, you can easily achieve your target with minimum effort and maximum benefit.
